ABOUT THE BAND

ZEN TREMBLES (Daniel Sipin, Becky Kotter)

Zen Trembles was born in 2019, centered around Becky Kotter’s songwriting and unconventional acoustic guitar playing. Described anywhere from alternative rock, progressive acoustic, or even math rock, this isn’t like any acoustic guitar sound you’ve heard before!

Zen Trembles have at least four new singles coming out for 2024, which were recorded at the world-renowned Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee!

BECKY KOTTER - Songwriter, vocalist, & guitarist for ZT

Becky loves biking! Especially fatbiking under the aurora borealis!

Becky’s songwriting is very experimental, percussive, and inventive. She mostly plays by ear in made-up drop tunings with multiple custom capos along the neck of her guitar. She has been singing since age 7 and been writing, playing, and recording at studios since the age of 13, but didn’t start performing professionally until March, 2017 when she discovered the music scene in Alaska.

When not writing or creating, Becky is often found somewhere in the woods or riding along glaciers on her bike, gathering inspiration for new songs and paintings. And, she’s had a lot of time to gather such inspiration lately… In 2023, Becky placed 1st place for women in the winter ALaskan bike race, the Susitna 100, and 2nd place for women in another winter century ride, the White Mountains 100.

Becky creates all of the artwork for Zen Trembles’ band merchandise and sells her pieces at shows and local art events. Her passions: the outdoors, music, and art, are all evident in the paintings and songs she creates. You can view/purchase her Alaskan signature collections and listen to ZT’s complete discography on the “Merch” tab.

DANIEL SIPIN - Bassist for ZT

Daniel Sipin is a 3rd generation musician from the Milwaukee area who has been playing guitar and bass in bands since he was in middle school. Primarily a guitarist, he effortlessly learned to play the bass for Zen Trembles. With incredible dexterity and attention to detail, Daniel compliments the dynamics of the music very well. He also knows how to get funky with his groovelines and brings contagious energy and charisma to every performance.

In Daniel’s spare time, he plays instruments, buys instruments, sells instruments, and buys & plays more instruments. Let’s just say, he’s a music enthusiast. Like Becky, another one of his passions is also biking. Becky actually met Daniel at the Trek Store in Anchorage, Alaska while doing an art show there. Daniel works there and purchased a canvas print from Becky, and the rest is history.

Oh, and let’s not forget, Daniel also enjoys “long romantic walks in the park”.
